SUMMARY

Nutrishare is responsible for a wide range of services to patients. The operation is specialized and responsible for sterile preparations, parenteral nutrition, supplies, prescription and select over the counter medications for long-term home care patients. Manages personnel, oversees clinical services and daily operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. The Director of Pharmacy will be a registered pharmacist. See Pharmacist Job Description for other duties as assigned.

Leadership & Oversight

  • The Director of Pharmacy has ultimate responsibility and oversight of the pharmacy location they oversee including: facilities, operations and employees.
  • Directs pharmacy employees engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Oversee operational special projects as assigned by Vice President of Pharmacy.
  • Other duties may be assigned at any time via verbal or written instructions by the Vice President of Pharmacy.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensures all licenses, accreditations, certifications, and policies and procedures are in good standing with state boards of pharmacy, ACHC and other governing bodies.
  • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.

Operations & Facility Management

  • Ensures that the warehouse is maintained as a safe, clean, organized and efficient operation.
  • Coordinates the daily sterile compounding and distribution operations.
  • Monitors all sterile compounding, technician, and shipping schedules, from entering accurate prescriptions into the electronic medical record system resulting in label and worksheet generation and record keeping.

Financial Management

  • Responsible for maintaining Gross Margin at the facility level including material costs, pharmacy wages, and freight.
  • Responsible for reviewing vendor purchase agreements before submitting them to corporate.

Patient Experience

  • Maintain best-in-class patient satisfaction by overseeing all communication and shipments to patients.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management

  • Maintains an appropriate inventory level of all critical supplies and materials.
  • Oversee supply chain management for the Nutrishare enterprise which includes all three pharmacy locations.
  • Oversee all asset management activities for the Nutrishare enterprise, primarily ambulatory infusion and enteral pumps.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Has oversight of all pharmacy employees. Oversee all regular operations meetings. Supervises and coordinates the activities of all pharmacy employees to ensure efficiency, accuracy, thoroughness, productivity, and professionalism. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, State Board of Pharmacy regulations, and applicable employment laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a registered RPh or PharmD.

Preferred: Must be a registered RPh or PharmD.OR four to ten years related experience and/or training in hospital pharmacy experience or clinical pharmacy residency; or equivalent combination of education and experience. [AP1] [SH2] [KS3] Maintains professional competence through professional organizations and continuing education. Participates in periodic educational opportunities. Contributes to the education of peers and the nutrition support literature via professional presentations and publications.
